c.1963 Shell Of East Africa Cars Of The World Premium

Shell of East Africa sponsored this "Cars of The World" give-away premium. It consists of a complete set of 60 different, 3" x 1½" color printed, two sided cards mounted in their original 10 page album. 60 cars from around the world were presented along with technical information about each one. Historically important as well as an unusual collectors item.

Each heavy stock, firm, card was fitted into four die cut slot. None were taped or glued in place. Yet they're all secure and remain tightly in place.

It's interesting that the album presents each auto from a non-U.S., non-European, or non-Japanese perspective. U.S. cars include the Chrysler Valiant, Ford Galaxie, Ford Falcon, Cadillac Sedan, Studebaker Lark, Nash Metropolitan, Chevrolet Bel Air, and Chevrolet Corvair.

Includes a wide spectrum of vehicles ranging from the 302 bhp Aston Martin D.B 4, to the 1 cylinder, 13 bhp BMW Isetta. (With its "lawn mower" engine the Isetta got 65-75 mpg). Many I've never heard of such as the Borgward Isabella, Skoda Octavia, and Humber Super Snipe. Rare, classic vehicles include the Daimler Dart SP250, Sunbeam Rapier, Porsche Super 90, and the Goggomobile Reagent.

The reverse side of each card was printed with a duplicate of some of the technical information as well as the company sponsor name Shell of East Africa.

The album covers were printed in color on heavy stock paper with the Shell logo on the front and back. The front also includes a generic coupe line drawing. The back cover shows 9 black line illustrations above and below the Shell logo. The inside covers are blank. It's staple bound.
